A selection of watercolours from 2007.
‘Formalities’ (2007), selected works from the Bachelor of Visual Arts graduation exhibition at AUT. This series of photographs made fun of the formality and common use of public spaces with anthropomorphic activities involving plastic bags.
‘Puddle series – Grey Lynn’ (2007), puddles became temporary sites for interventions using glitter and water colours.
‘Bookmarks – Dave Hickey’ (2007). Scanned art books spreads, illustrating the observations library book lenders often make by leaving indelible impressions/marks in book margins, texts, etc. I was interested in Michel de Certeau’s idea that books can be treated like a public space.
‘Fruit World’ (2007), AUT BVA Graduating Exhibition 2007 postcard image.
‘Lookout’ (2007), selected for the Young Blood Salon at City Art Rooms, Auckland, selected by Stephen Clealand, Ariane Craig-Smith and Young Sun Han.
The Remarkables (2007), a glitter installation of ‘desirable’ world travel destinations based on travel surveys I conducted on the streets of Auckland City. Resulting in a psycho-geographical map of the world, drawing attention to the countries no one wanted to travel to. People were asked: “If you could go to any country in the world, where would you go?”
